Level 2: Beginner Plus For stitchers who are comfortable using a sewing machine and ready to learn core garment construction techniques. You'll need to have completed Part 1 or an equivalent beginners' class before attending.

This focused 3-hour session is Part 2 of our Introduction to Machine Sewing classes. It introduces the essential building blocks of garment making and follows on naturally once you've learnt the basics of machine sewing.

Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, you'll work on technique samples and a mini calico garment. You'll leave with a firm foundation for small projects at home and the confidence to start on your first pattern.

If you haven't taken Part 1: Make a Tote Bag yet, you can book both classes in the same order for £160 instead of £170. The discount is applied automatically at checkout and can't be applied to classes booked separately.

Booking a class entitles you to 10% off all full price products in the shop (excluding books) from one week before your class starts through to the end of your course.

Laying and cutting from a paper pattern
Transferring markings and notches
Understanding grainline and seam allowances
Sewing straight darts
Inserting an invisible zip
Finishing seams (zig zag and turned under)

Our classes are non refundable. Due our small class sizes it is very difficult to transfer your booking to a different date. If you cannot attend a class and are able to notify us at least two weeks before the class starts, it may be possible to change the date* but this is not guaranteed so please give us as much notice as possible to increase your chances. *Limited to one change only.

If you're running late, please contact us as soon as possible by email. Unfortunately, if you arrive more than 30 minutes after the class starts, we may not be able to admit you as this can disrupt the learning experience for other students.

In the event that we need to cancel a class, we will provide as much notice as possible and offer either a full refund or an alternative booking date.

At Ray Stitch, we'd love to welcome stitchers of all ages, but to ensure the best learning experience for everyone, we're unable to accommodate anyone under 12 in our workshops.

Young people aged 12-16 are very welcome in our classes but must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18+) throughout the entire session. The accompanying adult must book and pay for their own space in the class and participate alongside the young person. Students aged 17 and over can attend classes independently.
